Two People Killed in Boating Accident

On Saturday, officials say two people were killed in another accident that they say could have been prevented.

Debbie Notte, Witness:
“The boat hit the jet ski and the jet ski, I don’t even know where it went. And then I seen the seat fly, and I didn’t even see the kid again.”

Officials say 19-year old Corey Vincent of Madeira Beach and 23-year old Joseph Battista of Connecticut were killed when a boat slammed into the wave runner the two were riding.

Investigators say the driver of the boat refused to take a field sobriety test, but a blood test was taken to see if alcohol was a factor. One witness also said she saw someone on the boat empty a bottle into the water after the accident.

So far, no charges have been filed and officials say it could take several weeks for them to complete their investigation.
