Cleaning your bathroom a thing of the past?

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 at 11:26 pm

That’s right, according to researchers from the University of New South Wales, Australia, this may be the future for public and private restroom alike.

New nanotechnology, Titanium Dioxide, which will be applied as a thin coating to a toilet are activated by ultravilot rays.

How it works is that ultraviolet light below a specific wavelength causes electrons to excite and this gives the effects of oxidation. This oxidation disinfects better than commercial bleach. It makes it better for sanitation as it is continually cleaning instead of waiting for the janitor

To further keep the bathroom clean, nanoparticles kill microbes and remove organic compounds. The titanium dioxide contains ‘superhydrophilicity’ which makes it so liquid droplets do not form on the surface. It makes the liquid run off and washes as it drips off.

I cant wait for this. Say goodbye to smelly toxic, headache causing cleaners.

Feds after Google Search Records

Thursday, January 19th, 2006 at 1:49 pm

The Bush Administration is trying to pressure seach engine giant Google to release it’s search engine records via subpoena that it delivered to them on Wednesday. It’s all part of their plan to bring back and attempt to enforce the COPPA or the Child Online Privacy Protection Act.

If Google loses and does in fact have to turn over records, it will include a request for 1 million random Web addresses and records of all Google searches from any one-week period. So far Google has refused to hand over any such information.

“The government can’t even claim that it’s for national security,” Everett-Church said. “They’re just using it to get the search engines to do their research for them in a way that compromises the civil liberties of other people.”

Nicole Wong, an associate general counsel for Google, said the company will fight the government’s effort “vigorously.”

I hope that Google does go to court and fight this. Someone needs to stand up to our government and make them realize they cannot just take information when they feel the need. Especially when our privacy is at stake.

NVIDIA and Dell unveiled the first-ever Quad-SLI PC at the Consumer Electronics Show 2006. Taking its acclaimed SLI technology to the next level, NVIDIA introduced support for not one, not two, not three, but FOUR GPUs. Delivering the most extreme high definition gaming experience available on the PC, Quad SLI features four of NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce® 7800 GTX GPUs with an NVIDIA nForce®4 SLI motherboard.

Imagine tearing through today’s most advanced PC games with an unheard of 41 gigapixels per second of raw graphics performance, 5.2 teraflops of compute power, 96 pixel pipes, and an astounding 2 GB of on-board graphics memory. Nothing can stop you when you have this kind of hardware on your side.

Now imagine yourself doing all of this at extreme HD resolutions with everything turned on. A Quad-SLI PC lets you run your favorite games at an unbelievably high resolution of 2560×1600 while maintaining silky smooth frame rates. In addition, support for a new 32x antialiasing mode and 16x anisotropic filtering enables stunning visuals.
